Google Gemini Deep Research: Turning AI Into Insight
Feb 04, 2026I've been working with clients to audit their digital presence, and I noticed a pattern. Many business owners think they're showing up one way online, but a quick search reveals something completely different. That gap between intention and reality can cost you clients and opportunities.
I'm going to walk you through the exact process I use with Google Gemini's deep research feature to audit digital footprints. This isn't about vanity metrics or surface-level checks. I want to show you how to identify where your actual online presence differs from your intended brand positioning, then give you specific action steps to close that gap. I've used this on my own business and with clients, and the insights are consistently valuable for anyone building an online business.
Key Takeaways
- Conduct a deep research audit of your website and channels to see how you actually show up online versus how you intend to show up
- Review the audit results carefully for inaccuracies and identify gaps between your current digital footprint and your desired brand positioning
- Use the insights from your audit to generate specific content ideas and action steps that align with how you want to be perceived online
Uncovering Your Digital Presence
Recognizing Visibility Gaps
I've used this audit process on some of my clients and myself to get an idea of their online footprint. The goal is to get that brand positioning statement as clear as possible so you can move forward and create the content you intended to.
When I ran my own audit, I found some accurate facts about myself, but also some inaccurate information. For example, the research correctly identified my military background with 16 years of service and my focus on true freedom (location, time, and financial freedom). However, it incorrectly stated I have an MBA and OBE, which I do not have.
Accuracy Check:
- âś“ Military background - 16 years of service
- âś“ True freedom focus (location, time, financial freedom)
- âś— MBA and OBE recipient
You need to look through the results and identify how you want to show up versus how you are actually showing up online. There may be a gap that you need to close.
The inaccuracies might come from multiple people with the same name online, or the AI might have confused details with other people in your niche. If you identify where the incorrect information is coming from, you can go back and highlight that a specific individual is not you, or request to disregard or omit anything from certain domains.
Understanding Digital Footprint Audits
I conduct this review to get an overview of how I show up online and my digital footprint. My idea is creating evergreen searchable content over time, then offering people free opt-in products, and then my services and products down the line.
The audit provides a comprehensive breakdown of your digital presence, including an overview and action steps. You can review sections on YouTube channel strategy, funnel and product development, and a conclusion.
I created an audio overview from my audit results. This gives you insight into how people are perceiving you as a brand and how they perceive your online website copy or your videos. When I listened to mine, the hosts discussed my systems-first entrepreneurship approach and my transition from 16 years in the Royal Air Force to online business strategist.
After reviewing your audit, you can ask the AI specific questions about how to adjust your online presence. For example, if you want to show up more in terms of showing specific topics, you can ask what videos or topics or content you should be creating next. This will give you a list of content ideas that you can then use to build out your next set of content.
If you're not showing up how you want to show up online, you've got specific action steps you can execute on. You want to identify the vision of how you want to show up online and compare it to how you are actually showing up online.
Leveraging Google Gemini for Research
Setting Up Deep Research Mode
I navigate to gemini.google.com and sign into my Google account to access Google Gemini. This is Google's AI response to Chat GPT and Claude.
Once inside Google Gemini, I see a prompt field for Gemini with a tools option. I click on the tools button and select deep research. This flips a switch within Google Gemini that allows it to draw from multiple sources and multiple websites for a deeper dive into exactly what I want.
I use a prompt like: "Conduct a detailed review of my website and my YouTube channel and suggested optimization." I include my main domain and my YouTube channel URL so Gemini knows exactly who I am.
My idea is creating evergreen searchable content over time and then offering people free opt-in products and my services and products down the line. I want to get a good idea of how I as Timman.com am showing up online, look at that actual research or audit, and see if there are any action steps or directions I need to follow as a result.
Before Google dives into its deep research, it presents a suggested plan. I can edit this if I need to, but it shows me exactly the steps it's going to conduct. This process takes a bit of time because it's drawing on lots of domains, channels, and videos. If I'm happy with the plan, I click start research.
The research takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete. Google Gemini provides a comprehensive breakdown of its deep research and overview in a canvas view.
Maximizing AI Tools for Website and Channel Analysis
In the top right corner, I select contents to see the main contents. I have access to share and export buttons if I want to export all of this into Google Docs. This is another reason I love Google Gemini because it's integrated with Google Workspace. I can also copy the contents for another platform.
There's a create button with several options:
- Web page
- Infographic
- Quiz
- Flashcards
- Audio overview
I don't take this at face value. What I want to do from this exercise is get an overview of how I show up online, my digital footprint.
I read through the audit because it has some great facts about myself, but it also has some inaccurate facts. This may be because there are multiple people with an online footprint called Tim Peakman, or it might have gotten confused with other people in my niche. For example, it correctly identifies my military background of 16 years of service. However, it incorrectly states I have an MBA and OBBE recipient when I do not have an MBA or an OBBE.
I go through and read to identify how I want to show up or the vision of how I want to show up online versus how I am actually showing up online. There may be a bridge I need to close that gap.
The audit provides action steps to optimize my footprint or call people to action. It includes a YouTube channel strategy and funnel and product development suggestions.
I can go to create and select audio overview. This is similar to a notebook LM function and gives me insight into how people are perceiving me as a brand, how people are perceiving my online website copy or the videos I've produced.
I listen to the audio overview to identify where the AI is actually getting its inaccuracies from. It might be a legitimate reason, like there is another individual called Tim Peakman with information online that this chat is drawing from.
I would go back and highlight that this individual is not me and ask to disregard or omit anything from this domain or from this individual. Then I can go back and review this whole process again and try to get a little bit more definition and accuracy on this review.
I go through the conclusion and the audio overview to identify where I actually see my business if I am building a personal brand and where it is currently. If the interviewers in the audio are saying something accurate but I want a little bit more of a systems and process spin or an AI spin for how I want to show up for my personal brand, then there's something I can do about that.
I ask the AI: "In order for me to show up more online in terms of showing X, Y, and Z, what videos or what topics or what content should I be creating next?" It provides a list of content ideas that I can then use to spark a conversation with another chat model to build out my next set of content ideas.
I conduct this audit on myself or one of my clients to see how I or they show up online, especially if I am trying to grow an online business with an online footprint. If I'm not showing up how I or my client wants to show up online, then I have specific action steps that I can execute on.
Reviewing Audit Results Effectively
Distinguishing Accurate From Inaccurate Data
I wouldn't take the audit results at face value. What you want to do from this exercise is get an overview of how you show up online, your digital footprint.
When I reviewed my own audit, I noticed it had some great facts about myself, but it also had some inaccurate facts. This may be because there are multiple people with an online footprint called Tim Peakman, or it might have got confused with other people in my niche.
Here's what I found in my results:
|
Information |
Accuracy |
|
Military background, 16 years of service |
Correct |
|
MBA and OBE recipient |
Incorrect - I do not have an MBA or an OBE |
|
True freedom, location, time, financial freedom |
Correct - that's exactly what I stand for |
You just have to look through this and make sure you go through, read it, and you might spark some ideas of actually I don't want to show up like that. Some of these details are going to be incorrect.
What I would do is go back and maybe then highlight this individual is not me. Please disregard or omit anything from this domain or from this individual. You can then go back and review this whole process again and try and get a little bit more definition and accuracy on this review.
Evaluating Your Brand Perception
I created an audio overview from my audit results. This gives you a bit of an insight how people are perceiving you as a brand, how people are perceiving your online website copy or your videos that you've produced.
When I listened to my audio overview, the interviewers discussed my background and positioning. Some of the context in there may be inaccurate. What I want to do is try and identify where they're actually getting their inaccuracies from and it might be a legit reason like there is another individual out there called Tim Peakman and he's got information online that this chat is drawing from.
What I would do is:
- Go through the conclusion
- Have a look at the audio overview
- Try and identify where you actually see your business if you are building a personal brand and where it is actually
If these interviewers are actually saying something that I know is accurate, but I probably want a little bit more of a systems and process spin or an AI spin, how I want to show up for my personal brand, then there's something I can do about that. You might identify a gap between how you want to show up online and how you are actually showing up online.
There may be a bit of a bridge that you may need to close that gap. You can then ask the AI, okay, great. Now, in order for me to show up more online in terms of showing X, Y, and Z, what videos or what topics or what content should I be creating next?
It's just going to give you a list of however many bits of content ideas that you can then spark a conversation with another chat model for you to then build out your next set of content ideas.
Bridging the Gap Between Perception and Intention
Identifying Brand Misalignments
When I ran the audit on my own digital footprint, the results revealed some accurate information alongside notable inaccuracies. The AI correctly identified my military background of 16 years of service. It also accurately captured my core message about true freedom, including location, time, and financial freedom.
However, the audit contained significant errors. It claimed I have an MBA and OBE, which is incorrect. It stated I received an OBE for services to medical research, which is also false. The audio overview perpetuated these same inaccuracies, mentioning an MBA from Henley Management College and referencing work with the UK biobank.
These misalignments likely stem from one of two sources. There may be another individual with my name who has an online presence. The AI might have confused me with other people in my niche.
Key areas to check for misalignments:
- Professional credentials and qualifications
- Career history and achievements
- Core business messaging and values
- Target audience descriptions
- Service offerings and product descriptions
I don't recommend taking the audit results at face value. Read through the entire output carefully. Note where the perception matches your intention and where gaps exist. The audio overview feature provides additional insight into how people might perceive your brand based on your current online content.
Clarifying Your Online Message
Once I identified the inaccuracies in my audit, I needed to determine their source and take corrective action. My next step involved going back to the AI with specific instructions. I would highlight that certain information references a different individual and request that any content from specific domains be omitted.
The goal is to compare where I see my business going against where it currently appears online. If the AI-generated interviewers discuss aspects of my brand that are accurate but lack the emphasis I want, that signals a content gap. For my situation, I might want more emphasis on systems, processes, or AI rather than other elements.
After identifying these gaps, I can ask the AI for specific guidance:
"Now, in order for me to show up more online in terms of showing X, Y, and Z, what videos or what topics or what content should I be creating next?"
This generates a list of content ideas aligned with how I actually want to show up online. I can then use these ideas as conversation starters with other AI tools to develop my next content pieces.
Action steps for clarifying your message:
- Document specific inaccuracies found in your audit
- Identify domains or sources contributing to misalignment
- Re-run the audit with exclusion instructions
- Compare your intended brand position with current perception
- Request content recommendations to close identified gaps
- Use the suggestions to inform your content strategy
The purpose of this exercise is not just to see how you show up online, but to identify the specific actions needed to align your digital footprint with your intentions. If you're building an online business with a personal brand, this audit reveals whether your current content strategy supports your goals or works against them.
Optimizing Your Online Strategy
Prioritizing Actionable Steps
I wouldn't take the deep research results at face value. What you want to do from this exercise is get an overview of how you show up online, your digital footprint.
I've just had a quick glance through the results and yes, it's got some great facts about myself, but it's also got some inaccurate facts. This may be because there are multiple people with an online footprint called Tim Peakman, or it might have got confused with other people in my niche.
You just have to look through this. Some of these details are going to be incorrect. Make sure you go through, read it, and you might spark some ideas of actually I don't want to show up like that. That is incorrect. This is more my style.
Go through and have a read and identify how you want to show up or the vision of how you want to show up online and the actual how you are showing up online. There may be a bit of a bridge that you may need to close that gap.
What I would do is go through the conclusion, have a look at the audio overview and try and identify where you actually see your business if you are building a personal brand and where it is actually. If the audio interviewers are actually saying something that I know is accurate, but I probably want a little bit more of a systems and process spin or an AI spin, how I want to show up for my personal brand, then there's something I can do about that.
What I would do is go back and maybe then highlight this individual is not me. Please disregard or omit anything from this domain or from this individual. Then you can go back and review this whole process again and try and get a little bit more definition and accuracy on this review.
Implementing Suggested Improvements
You can ask the AI, okay, great. Now, in order for me to show up more online in terms of showing X, Y, and Z, what videos or what topics or what content should I be creating next? It's just going to give you a list of however many bits of content ideas that you can then spark a conversation with another chat model for you to then build out your next set of content ideas.
If there's one thing you take away from this, conduct this audit on yourself or one of your clients to see how you or they show up online, especially if you are trying to grow an online business with an online footprint. If you're not showing up how you or your client wants to show up online, then you've got some specific action steps that you can execute on.
Enhancing Content Creation With AI Insights
Generating Content Ideas
After conducting the audit and reviewing the audio overview, I identify gaps between my current online presence and how I want to show up for my personal brand. For example, if the AI-generated interviewers mention accurate information but I want more of a systems and process spin or an AI spin for my brand positioning, I can take action.
I ask the AI a follow-up question: "In order for me to show up more online in terms of showing X, Y, and Z, what videos or what topics or what content should I be creating next?" The AI provides a list of content ideas that spark conversations with other chat models. This helps me build out my next set of content ideas based on the audit findings.
The process works because I'm not just creating random content. I'm using the audit data to identify specific topics that will close the gap between my current digital footprint and my intended brand positioning.
Aligning Content With Brand Goals
I take one key action from this process: conducting the audit on myself or my clients to see how we show up online, especially when trying to grow an online business with an online footprint. If I'm not showing up how I or my client wants to show up online, the audit provides specific action steps to execute on.
I review the conclusion section and the audio overview to identify where I actually see my business compared to where it currently is. If the AI-generated review mentions something accurate but doesn't align with my brand vision, I have something I can work on. I can go back and provide more context to the AI, such as highlighting incorrect information from other individuals with similar names or requesting it omit specific domains.
This review process is part of my business systems. I have processes for everything I do in my online business, and this audit helps ensure my content creation efforts align with my brand goals and how I intend to show up online.
Utilizing Audio Overview and Cross-Platform Features
Gaining Insights From Audio Summaries
I created an audio overview directly from the deep research results. This function generates a conversation-style summary of the audit findings.
When I clicked the "create" button in the top right corner of the canvas view, I selected "audio overview" from the available options. The system took a couple of minutes to generate this audio content.
I played the audio overview to hear how my brand was being perceived. The audio presented two speakers discussing my digital ecosystem in a conversational format. This gave me insight into how people might perceive my website copy and video content.
The audio overview revealed some accurate information about my background. It correctly stated my 16 years in the Royal Air Force and my focus on systems first entrepreneurship. However, it also contained inaccuracies, such as claiming I had an MBA from Henley Management College and an OBE for work with UK bio bank. These were incorrect.
I listened to the entire audio overview to identify where the inaccuracies originated. There might be another individual with my name who has information online that the system was drawing from. I could go back and highlight that this individual was not me and ask the system to disregard or omit anything from that domain or individual.
Key benefits of the audio overview:
- Reveals how your brand is perceived
- Provides conversational context about your positioning
- Helps identify messaging gaps
- Shows what aspects of your work are most prominent
Exporting and Sharing Research Findings
The canvas view included multiple export options in the top right corner. I could share or export the complete audit results to other platforms.
The export button allowed me to send all of this research into Google Docs. This is integrated with Google Workspace, which is exactly what I use. I could also copy the contents for use on another platform.
The "create" button provided additional format options:
- Web page
- Infographic
- Quiz
- Flashcards
- Audio overview
I used the contents selector in the top right to view the main sections of the audit. This made it easy to navigate through the comprehensive breakdown.
After reviewing the audit and audio overview, I could ask the AI for specific action steps. If I wanted to show up more prominently in certain areas, I could request content ideas by asking what videos or topics I should create next. The system would generate a list of content ideas that I could then develop further with another chat model to build out my next set of content.
Continuous Improvement of Your Digital Ecosystem
I wouldn't take this audit at face value. What you want to do from this exercise is get an overview of how you show up online, your digital footprint.
Have a read through of this because I've just had a quick glance through and yes, it's got some great facts, but it's also got some inaccurate facts. This may be because there are multiple people with an online footprint called your name, or it might have got confused with other people in your niche.
Some of the details are going to be incorrect. Make sure you go through, read it, and you might spark some ideas of actually I don't want to show up like that or that is incorrect or this is more my style.
Identifying the Gap
Go through and have a read and identify how you want to show up or the vision of how you want to show up online and the actual how you are showing up online. There may be a bit of a bridge that you may need to close that gap.
All the way down it's going to give you some action steps. If you wanted to optimize your footprint or if you wanted to call people to action, here's a YouTube channel strategy, here's a funnel and product development, but it's going to give you a bit of a conclusion.
Using the Audio Overview
You could even go straight up to create and go on to audio overview. I've just created an audio overview and this is if you haven't done this before, this is a kind of notebook LM function.
This might give you a bit of an insight how people are perceiving you as a brand, how people are perceiving your online website copy or your videos that you've produced. Have a full listen to your audio overview.
Some of the context in there may be inaccurate. What I want to do is to try and identify where they're actually getting their inaccuracies from and it might be a legit reason like there is another individual out there with your name and they've got information online that this chat is drawing from.
Refining Your Results
What I would do is I would go back and maybe then highlight this individual is not me. Please disregard or omit anything from this domain or from this individual.
You can go back and review this whole process again and try and get a little bit more definition and accuracy on this review. What I would do is I would go through this conclusion, have a look at the audio overview and try and identify where you actually see your business if you are building a personal brand and where it is actually.
If these two interviewers are actually saying something that I know it's accurate, but I probably want a little bit more of a systems and process spin or an AI spin, how I want to show up for my personal brand, then there's something I can do about that. You can ask this AI, okay, great, now, in order for me to show up more online in terms of showing X, Y, and Z, what videos or what topics or what content should I be creating next?
It's just going to give you a list of however many bits of content ideas that you can then spark a conversation with another chat model for you to then build out your next set of content ideas.
The Core Takeaway
If there's one thing you take away from this, conduct this audit on yourself or one of your clients to see how you or they show up online, especially if you are trying to grow an online business with an online footprint. If you're not showing up how you or your client wants to show up online, then you've got some specific action steps that you can execute on.
Next Steps and Further Resources
Once you've completed your initial audit, read through the entire report carefully. You might find some inaccurate information mixed in with correct details, which could happen because there are other people with your name online or the AI pulled from incorrect sources.
What to do when you find inaccuracies:
- Go back to Google Gemini and specify which information is incorrect
- Ask it to omit specific domains or individuals that aren't you
- Run the audit again to get more accurate results
I recommend going straight to the conclusion section and listening to the audio overview. This gives you insight into how people perceive your brand based on your website copy and video content.
Compare your vision with reality:
- Identify how you want to show up online
- Note how you actually show up based on the audit
- Spot the gaps you need to close
If the audio overview or written report shows you're being perceived differently than intended, you have specific direction for your next content. Ask the AI what videos or topics you should create to shift that perception.
You can follow up with prompts like: "In order for me to show up more online showing X, Y, and Z, what videos or topics or content should I be creating next?" This generates a list of content ideas you can develop further.
Key action items:
- Export your audit results to Google Docs using the export button
- Create an audio overview to hear how your brand sounds to others
- Review the YouTube channel strategy and funnel development sections
- Use the suggested optimization steps as your roadmap
Conduct this audit on yourself or your clients regularly, especially if you're building an online business. If you're not showing up how you want, you now have specific action steps to execute on.
