Kajabi Isn't for Everyone: 16 Pros and Cons to Help You Decide

kajabi: getting started Jul 08, 2026

Kajabi isn't for everyone. I've used it since 2018 and run my entire one-person online business on it, because it's the right fit for what I do. That doesn't mean it's right for you.

I walk you through the Kajabi pros and cons as I see them: eight honest pros and eight honest cons, so you can decide whether it suits your business. Full disclosure: I'm a Kajabi partner.

Key Takeaways

  • Kajabi's biggest strength is having everything under one roof, from your website and products to email, payments and automations.
  • The main downsides are the premium price, a learning curve, and the fact that Kajabi won't build your audience for you.
  • Kajabi suits you if you're serious about a digital products business and want to learn one system well, but skip it if you're testing a first offer on a tight budget.

8 Kajabi Pros

1. A Mature All-in-One Platform

Kajabi hosts your website plus courses, communities, downloads, newsletters and podcasts. It also handles your emails, payments and analytics: one login and one bill each month. Rather than taping lots of tools together, you learn one platform. That's why I built my whole business on it.

2. A Strong Checkout and Payments

Kajabi's checkout is essentially Stripe built in, and it's simple and solid. My webinar blueprint checkout, for example, supports Google Pay and Apple Pay for higher conversions. You can add order bumps, upsells and downsells to design exactly the checkout experience you want.

3. Automations and One-Click Funnels

Tags, triggers and automations are built in. Kajabi also has one-click funnels, such as a freebie funnel, sales page funnel, product launch funnel, Zoom webinar, free book and coaching campaign. Click get started and it builds the landing pages, emails and automations for you. I cover these in my post on Kajabi funnels.

4. Well-Structured Products

There are six product types, all of which can be free or paid: courses, podcasts, communities, coaching, newsletters and downloads. As a coach and consultant, I use the coaching product most. It's simple to set up and a great place to start as a one-person business owner.

5. Growing AI Features

Kajabi is leaning into AI. Its Co-Founder assistant lives inside your account and can see your revenue, analytics, metrics and products, so it can recommend your next step. More AI tools are coming to help you get unstuck. I cover Co-Founder in more detail in my post on Kajabi's 2026 updates. Kajabi's support is also second to none.

6. A Great Student Experience and Branded App

Kajabi puts the customer experience first. On the Pro plan, you can build your own branded app, so instead of telling customers to search the app store for "Kajabi", which leaves people asking what a Kajabi is, they search for your brand name and have all your products in their pocket.

7. You're Not Figuring It Out Alone

Every Kajabi account includes Kajabi University: a library of courses and a community where experts share strategies for building an online business. You get access during your free trial too, so use it to see whether Kajabi is for you. Here's my take on Kajabi University.

8. A Stable Platform

I've built multiple sites on Kajabi since 2018, and it just works. The page builder is intuitive drag and drop, with good mobile responsiveness. Everything you see on timpeakman.com, including my homepage, blog, about and contact pages, is built in Kajabi. Kajabi ships regular updates, and you can refresh your theme to stay current.

8 Kajabi Cons

1. The Price

Some people will find Kajabi expensive. I'm on the Growth plan, which is $249 a month paid monthly, or the equivalent of $199 a month paid annually. I see it as premium pricing for a premium product and a premium student experience. See my post on the new Kajabi pricing for the full breakdown.

Start on the lowest plan and upgrade as you grow. If you're pre-revenue, work with one person, use the free trial, and try to get revenue in before your first Kajabi bill arrives.

2. Not the Best in Class at Any One Thing

Because Kajabi does so much, it isn't the market leader in any single area. I'd say it's 80 to 90% of the way there on each. If you want the very best community platform or the very best newsletter tool, Kajabi might not be for you.

3. A Steep Learning Curve

There's a lot down that left-hand menu: sales, products, websites and marketing tools. My advice is to start with one product and one offer, and get revenue coming in before you learn anything else. You don't have to use everything. I certainly don't.

4. It Won't Build Your Audience

Kajabi helps you build and run your business, but it doesn't bring you an audience. That's why I built a YouTube channel to grow mine, then send people to Kajabi to buy my products and services. You need a strategy for growing your audience alongside it.

5. Possibly Overkill

If you're in a hobby niche or launching something just once, Kajabi can be a sledgehammer to crack a nut. You could start elsewhere and move to Kajabi later. If you know you'll grow, though, I'd start with Kajabi. I go deeper on this in Kajabi is overkill for most people.

6. Templates Only Take You So Far

Kajabi's website, landing page and email templates are a good start, but you still need your own branding, fonts and colours. I see a lot of Kajabi sites, and the ones that haven't been properly branded look generic, especially when AI has built them. Hire a designer, or get good at designing your pages yourself.

7. You Can Feel Locked In

Once you've built everything in Kajabi, moving is manual work. You can download some data and themes, but there's no one-click move to another platform. Think about whether you can see yourself on Kajabi in one, five and ten years before committing. If you're weighing up options, see my list of 15 Kajabi alternatives.

8. Limited for Coders

If you like building things with code, you may feel constrained. Kajabi has a public API and now an MCP for connecting AI tools, and the Pro plan includes a custom code editor, but it's still more limited than some platforms. It's improving all the time.

Is Kajabi Right for You?

Kajabi could be for you if:

  • You're serious about a digital products business.
  • You want fewer tools, even at a higher price.
  • You're willing to learn one solid system for years.
  • You value speed to launch over custom builds.

Skip Kajabi if:

  • You're testing your very first offer and money is tight.
  • You only need a simple checkout or landing page.
  • You expect Kajabi to bring you an audience. It won't.

For another angle on the same question, see my earlier post on Kajabi pros and cons to understand before buying.

Conclusion

Kajabi is a mature, stable all-in-one platform with a strong checkout, automations, AI features and a great student experience. But it's a premium price, there's a learning curve, and it won't build your audience for you.

Weigh up these 16 pros and cons against where your business is today. If you're serious about digital products and want one system to learn and grow with, it's worth trying. If you're still testing your first offer on a tight budget, start simpler.
